UI Generalist / FX Artist

Escalation is looking for a talented UI Generalist with some FX experience to work on our next big thing.

Essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Works closely with Art Director to determine presentation of UI and Effects.
  • Responsible for designing, implementing and scripting all parts of the UI, including all frontend menus and in-game elements.
  • Responsible for designing, implementing and scripting various in-game particle effects.
  • Optimize effects to run efficiently within the game while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Concept and prototype effects.

Qualified candidates must possess and demonstrate the following skills

  • Strong, versatile 2D skills. One minute we’re working on Rage, the next it’s Disney Infinity.
  • Knowledgeable about current and upcoming trends with regard to both UI design and particle effects.
  • Experience working in a real-time game engine.
  • Strong understanding of particle systems.
  • Strong and proven scripting knowledge (Actionscript/C#/Javascript/PHP/etc).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to manage initiatives with limited supervision and possess good decision making skills.
  • Experience working with version control software (SVN, Perforce, etc).
  • Strong multi-tasking ability.

Special consideration will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the following

  • Strong understanding of UX and information architecture.
  • Familiarity with usability testing and ability to interpret results.
  • Strong foundation in usability and accessibility of UI design.
  • Able to transform an idea into a well-structured, efficient, user experience.
